What kind of artist are you? Let’s look at a few things so we can find out right off the bat. There are many types of artists that are out there. Some are committed to their music, and others are every now and then musicians. Some are all about themselves, and some are about others. As an independent artist, you have to think about these things, because they ultimately pave the direction your music is going to go. Ever since I started doing this playlist curator job I’ve taken on a lot more than I thought I would. Constantly analyzing different routes to take. As an independent artist myself, I make sure to remind myself, that when I started this whole thing the unlimited goal was to give the indie artist a  voice in the world, besides the one they have behind the microphone. I think that you can be selfish with your music to the point where you can lose sight of what you started out to do the first place. You get so lost in trying to promote yourself, that you forget the reason why you started doing music at all. I’ve talked to so many musicians all around the world, and the ones that are 100% honest with me, tell me that they started their music because they had something to say to the world. They wanted to make other people feel and think. They wanted to let others know that they are not alone or that they can relate to what they’re going through or have been. Which in itself is a reason why 75% of all artist made music in the beginning. But there is a fine line and a balance to be recognized. It is very easy to get caught up if yourself and lose sight of what is really important. At the end of the day, as musicians, we are all looking for a little recognition. And there is nothing wrong with that, unless you allow that to control and dictate who you are as a musician.

What we have built together is not just about streams. It is only a small piece of what we are accomplishing together. We have built a network community of artists, that are now able to share their voice and their passions with the world. And you don’t have to go broke to do it. So, to be a part of something like this, you need to step away from your self a little bit and recognize that you are not the only indie artist in the world. There are so many people that have so much talent. There are so many artists that are ready to share what they have to say with the world, but have no idea where to go or where to turn. We have a chance to make a difference for the future of indie artists all over the world. So you have to ask yourself, what kind of artist am I? Are you all about community? Or are you all about yourself?. Answer that question, and you will see where you stand.
